This popular small flying club operates from a superb two-acre close mown site near Chippenham in Wiltshire, with permission to over fly adjacent fields. Not the easiest site to fly from-but very exciting. Flying is restricted to HMAC Members only, with no guest flying permitted.
Membership has to be restricted due to the amount of car parking space available. Due to its popularity (with 100% renewal from existing members this year) the club normally has a waiting list. This year the car parking spaces have been doubled. A current update on membership availability may be obtained by Email to the club from this website.
The emphasis in the HMAC is on flying, and doing it safely while having lots of fun. There is little social activity outside of flying. No annual dinner dances or things of that nature. We exist solely for the enjoyment of flying. For this we make no apology. If you want more, then this is probably not the club for you.
The club actively promotes the BMFA Achievement Scheme, and currently has five Instructors, two BMFA Examiners, a BMFA Area Chief Instructor and BMFA Area Chief Examiner. All training is carried out using the BMFA ‘Up and Away’ manual, with personal logbooks being supplied by the club to every beginner. ONLY those Instructors recognised by the HMAC are allowed to teach novice pilots, to ensure consistency of standards and adherence to the BMFA Safety Code and Club Rules.
The HMAC Club Rules and Constitution are based very closely on BMFA recommendations; and with safety issues being paramount they are not negotiable. They are updated regularly to reflect a change in circumstances or BMFA advice. All new and existing members sign an application/renewal annually confirming they accept the current HMAC Club Rules and Constitution.
