The club provides free training, advice and assistance to all club members of all abilities. For beginners to the hobby a 'buddy' system is operated by the instructors which allows dual control of the model aircraft. Once a trainee can demonstrate a consistent level of proficiency and a high standard of safety they are permitted to make their first solo. All members are actively encouraged to participate in the BMFA achievement ratings scheme and all members must achieve at least 'A' level standard before they are permitted to fly solo unsupervised. The club uses the BMFA 'Up and Away' manual as the basis of it's training sylabus. The club prides itself on the high standard and thorough nature of it's training and support for beginners, unrivalled in the area. The club also operates a limited membership which allows the necessary time to be spent with trainees undistracted, again something which alas is not always a priority for other model clubs.Currently the club can provide training on both fixed wing and helicopter model flying.
